ANGOLA, Ind. - It was a game of inches for the Trine University women's soccer team as they fell 1-0 to conference-leading Alma College. The loss drops the Thunder to 2-7 on the year and 1-6 in the MIAA.

The Thunder played a tough defensive game but gave up a goal with 10:19 remaining in the first half off a corner kick.

The Trine defense was able to hold Alma scoreless in the second half, but the Thunder were unable to score the equalizer. Twice in the second half the Thunder had solid opportunities to score as freshman Jami Patterson's (Argos, Ind./Argos) header hit the crossbar. Later, junior Trisha King's (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) direct kick was saved by the Scots goalie.

Senior goalkeeper Jamie Schnarr (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) made nine saves on the night, including six in the second half for the Thunder.

Patterson led the Thunder with three shots on the afternoon.

The Thunder offense managed just nine shots for the game, including two on goal while the Scots attempted 20.

Trine returns to the field on homecoming weekend when they host Saint Mary's on Oct. 6 for a 4 p.m. game.
