ANGOLA, Ind. -  For the third game in a row, the Trine University women's soccer team competed at a high level only to fall short to Hope College. The Thunder fell to the Flying Dutch, 1-0. The Dutch scored their lone goal early in the second half after a ball got loose after a corner, and Courtney Laux put a bullet in the back of the net. Trine (2-11, 1-10 MIAA) managed to only produce four shots on the day, which never found the back of the net.

In the early minutes Trine had a great attempt at a goal on a corner kick, where Skyler Reed's (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) header flew just over the crossbar. The tempo of the game stayed constant, with just a few fouls called for each side.

Early in the second half, Hope had a corner kick that managed to bounce around, and then Courtney Laux was there in the right place at the right time. She managed to miss all Trine defenders, and put a strike into the back of the net. The second half served to be a very action packed half for Trine's goalie, Jamie Schnarr (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont). She finished with 6 saves in the half and 7 on the day.

The Thunder's next match is home against Adrian College on Oct. 19 at 12 p.m.
