ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine women's soccer team was defeated by Hope, 3-0, in MIAA-action Saturday afternoon at the Weaver Soccer Complex.

The two teams entered the match as the only two unbeatens in MIAA play. The Flying Dutchmen struck twice in the first half and once in the second half to earn the victory. Hope outshout Trine by a 27-4 total, while Kat Dickson made three saves in net to earn the shutout. Trine falls to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in the MIAA. Hope is 4-2 overall and 3-0 in conference matches.

Erin Jipping got the Dutch on the board at the 21:49 mark. That stopped Skyler Reed's (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) scoreless-streak at 331:50. Reed hadn't allowed a goal since early in the first half of a loss to Rose Hulman four games ago.

Elizabeth Perkins scored off a pass from Lindsey Bieri less than three minutes later. Natalie Curry added a goal in the second half to put the game out of reach. Kristin Hazlett picked up the assist on the game's final tally.

Trine returns to action Tuesday, Sep. 16 when they host Adrian at 4 p.m. at Weaver Field.
