Thunder Battle Comets to Draw

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine and Olivet battled to a scoreless draw in double-overtime Wednesday afternoon at Weaver Field.

The Comets outshot the Thunder by a 12-7 margin. Deanna Zolnoski made three saves to earn the shutout for Olivet. Skyler Reed (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) and Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) combined on the shutout for Trine. Reed made made two saves while playing the first half and both overtime periods in goal. Veljovic stopped two shots in the second half. Trine is now 4-3-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the MIAA. Olivet is 2-4-2, 0-4-1 in conference matches.

Reed came up with a big save in the first overtime after a corner kick sent into the box. Emily Reinecke got off a clean shot, but Reed was there to make the two-handed save and preserve the shutout.

The Comets produced nine corner-kick opportunities to Trine's two. The Thunder were whistled for 13 fouls, while Olivet accumulated nine.

The Thunder return to action this Saturday, Sept. 27 when they travel to Albion. The match is slated to begin at noon.
