Big Second Half Leads Scots Over Trine

ANGOLA, IND.-- Alma scored three second-half goals to earn a 3-0 victory over Trine Wednesday afternoon at Weaver Field.

After the two teams played virtually even over the first 45 minutes, the Scots outshot the Thunder 11-2 in the second half on their way to three unanswered goals. Alma held a 22-12 advantage in shots overall. Amanda Mladenovski scored two goals and Macayla Greiner added another for the Scots. Jenna Fassbender made five saves to earn the shutout. Alma improved to 7-3 overall and 5-2 in the MIAA. Trine falls to 4-5-1 overall, 2-4-1 in conference play.

Mladenovski scored her first goal 6:23 into the second half, taking a shot from a tough angle and finding the top corner of the net to put the Scots on the board. She notched her second tally just over two minutes later, punching in a rebound on the doorstep after a shot by Olivia Whalls.

Greiner added an insurance tally on a rebound at the 22:45 mark of the second half. Brooke Steed picked up the assist.

Skyler Reed (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) made six saves in net for the Thunder.

Trine returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 4 at St. Mary's. The match is slated to begin at noon.
