ANGOLA, IND.-- Jenna Urso's goal in the second overtime lifted Albion to a 1-0 victory over Trine in MIAA-action Tuesday afternoon at Weaver Field.
Urso took a pass down the left wing from Domenique Sarnecky, streaked past the Thunder defense and buried a shot low to send the Britons home victorious. The goal was Urso's conference-leading 11th tally of the season. Albion outshot Trine by a 22-12 margin to improve to 11-5-3 overall, 7-5-3 in the MIAA. The loss drops the Thunder to 4-10-3 overall and 2-9-3 in conference matches.
Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) turned in a solid effort in net for Trine. The freshman keeper made a career-high 10 saves, and held the conference's top-scoring team scoreless until Urso's goal at the 103:47 mark of the contest.
Maggie Troost stopped six shots to earn the shutout for the Britons. Troost improved her personal record to 10-4-2 on the year with the victory.
Trine travels to Alma for a noon match with the Scots this Saturday, Nov. 1.
