ALMA, MICH.-- Alma scored the first three goals of the match to earn a 3-1 victory over Trine Saturday afternoon at Scotland Yard.
Macayla Greiner, Megan Kalanik and Kelly Wilson each scored goals for the Scots to build the three-goal advantage. Skyler Reed (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) scored the Thunder goal, while Jamie McCarrell (Jackson, Mich./Jackson) picked up the assist. Alma outshot Trine by a 21-7 margin, and produced seven corner kick opportunities to one for the Thunder. The Scots improved to 10-7-1 overall, 8-6-1 in MIAA play. Trine falls 4-11-3, 2-10-3 in conference matches.
Greiner got the Scots on the board just 3:20 into the contest off a pass from Mackenzie Smith. That was all the scoring the first half would see.
Kalanik scored what later would prove to be the game-winner at the 52:56 mark of the contest. Quinn Huver picked up the assist. Wilson added an unassisted goal just under three minutes later.
Reed scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season when she collected a rebound off a shot by McCarrell and fired it into the back of the net. The goal was the ninth of Reed's career, which moved her into fifth among Trine players in the Division III era.
The Thunder wrap up the season this Monday, Nov. 3 as they host St. Mary's at 3 p.m. at Weaver Field.
