Reed, King Named Second-Team All-MIAAA

FREELAND, MICH.-- Trine's Skyler Reed and Trisha King were each named Second-Team All-MIAA, the conference announced Wednesday.

Reed (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) is being honored for the first-time in her career, and is being recognized for her work as goalkeeper. King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) is also being honored for the first time in her career after four solid years of work as a defender. This is the first time Trine has had two All-MIAA performers in the same season since joining NCAA Division III in 2004. The Thunder concluded the season 4-11-4 overall, with a 2-10-4 mark in conference play.

Reed had one of the best seasons by a Trine goalkeeper in the Division-III era. The junior recorded the best save percentage (.864), most wins (4) and most shutouts (4.2) by any Thunder keeper over the last 10 years. She led the MIAA in save percentage, becoming the first Trine player to accomplish that feat.

Highlighting the season for Reed was an MIAA Player of the Week honor (9/8). Reed also recorded a scoreless-streak of 331:50, which included parts of four matches. She also led the Thunder in scoring with four goals, including a performance in which she scored two goals and notched the win in net in a victory over Franklin.

King concluded her career with another solid season on the Trine back line. The senior was a workhorse, playing 1,693 of a possible 1,805 minutes (94 percent). King has played nearly 1,500 minutes more than any other player at Trine in the Division III era. She anchored a defense that ranked third in the MIAA in goals-against average (1.25).

Offensively, King contributed one assist this season. In her career, King scored five goals and notched four assists. Included among those efforts was a four-goal campaign in 2011. She scored one game-winner in her career. King concludes her career tied for first among players in the Division-III era with 72 games started.
