Thunder Drop Road Contest at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich.-- The Trine women's soccer team was defeated by Hope, 2-0 in MIAA-action Tuesday evening at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

A pair of first half goals by Rachel Braginton provided all the scoring the Flying Dutch would need. Murphy Stadelmaier and Eliza Beird picked up assists. Mary Clare Theis picked up her MIAA-leading ninth shutout of the year in net. Trine fell to 1-11-1 overall, 0-10-1 in MIAA matches. Hope improved to 12-2-1 overall, 9-1-1 in conference play.

Braginton got her first goal of the match at the 29:13 mark. She deflected in a pass from Stadelmaier in the box.

Braginton struck again just 5:15 later as she redirected a header in off a cross from Beird. The goals gave the freshman nine on the season. She is now tied for the conference lead.

Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) once again played a solid match in net for the Thunder. The sophomore made seven saves. Veljovic leads the MIAA in saves and ranks third in the conference with an .808 save percentage.

Trine returns home this Saturday, Oct. 17 for a noon match against MIAA-foe Saint Marys.
