Thunder Fall on Road at Albion

ALBION, Mich.-- The Trine women's soccer team was defeated by Albion, 2-0 in MIAA-action Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.

MIAA-leading scorer Domenique Sarnecky scored in the first half to provide what would prove to be the game-winner. Lauren Cross tallied a goal in the second half and racked up an assist on Sarnecky's tally. Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) made nine saves to lead the Thunder. Trine fell to 1-13-1 overall, 0-12-1 in the MIAA. The Britons improved to 8-8 overall, 6-7 in conference matches.

Sarnecky's league-leading 11th goal of the season got Albion on the board at the 32:44 mark of the match. Cross picked up the assist.

Cross later added an insurance goal at 62:27 of the match off a pass from Jenna Urso. The goal was Cross' first of the season. Urso picked up her fifth assist, tied for third-best in the MIAA.

Veljovic's performance in net gave the sophomore 102 saves on the season. She leads the MIAA in saves this year and ranks third in the league with an .810 save percentage. Veljovic is the eighth Trine goalie to total 100 or more saves in a season.

The Thunder travel to Olivet for a 2:30 p.m. match against the Comets this Saturday, Oct. 24.
