Women's Soccer Falls at Olivet

OLIVET, Mich.-- The Trine women's soccer team was defeated by Olivet, 4-0 in MIAA-action Saturday afternoon at Cutler Athletic Complex.

Isabelle Leon scored twice to lead the Comets, while Miranda Quick dished out two assists. Lydia Vargas and Lauren Vanderhoff also scored for Olivet. Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) made 12 saves in net to lead the Thunder. Trine fell to 1-14-1 overall, 0-13-1 in conference play. The Comets improved to 11-4-1 overall and 8-4-1 in MIAA matches.

Vanderhoff scored off passes from Quick and Megan Peplinski 19:43 into the contest for what would later prove to be the game-winner. Vanderhoff's goal was her first of the season.

Leone tallied twice in the second half. The first of the goals made the score 2-0 and was assisted by Madeline Maxwell. The second of the tallies was the final goal of the match and was assisted by Sydney Reichenbaugh.

Vargas' goal from Quick made the score 3-0 and was sandwiched between Leone's two goals.

Veljovic's effort of 12 saves marked her fourth performance of 10-plus saves this season. She leads the MIAA with 114 saves.

Trine will play its final home match of the season this Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. The Thunder will host Adrian.
