Women's Soccer Team Hosts Syracuse Men's Soccer Practice

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Trine University and the Thunder women's soccer team played host to Syracuse University men's soccer practice this afternoon.

The Orangemen took the field at Weaver Field today in preparation for their upcoming matches at Shindigz National Soccer Festival in Fort Wayne. Syracuse will take on Michigan State tomorrow night at 6 p.m. and will face Ohio State Saturday at 6 p.m. The Orange were ranked sixth in the nation in the preseason NSCAA Top 25 poll. Syracuse is led by head coach Ian McIntyre, who has guided the Orange to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Trine women's soccer team served as hosts for the team's practice session and were able to gather for a photo with players from Syracuse (pictured above).

Thunder head coach Terry Stefankiewicz is the driving force behind Shindigz National Soccer Festival. The event has grown into a three-day event featuring some of the top NCAA Division I teams in the nation, as well as numerous other soccer matches across other levels of competition. The festival also includes youth clinics and a wide range of live entertainment, ranging from youth activities to tailgating.

Trine opened practice this morning in preparation for the upcoming season. The Thunder open with a match against Anderson Thursday, Sep. 1 at 7 p.m. in Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium. Special activities are being planned for those in attendance. More information on those activities will be available in the coming days.
