Thunder Women Battle Anderson to Draw in Opener

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with Anderson in the season-opener Thursday night at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.

Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso, Ind. / Valparaiso) had seven saves for the Thunder, who outshot the Ravens 21 to 11. Most of the scoring chances took place in the first half, when Trine outshot Anderson 16 to 10. Kristen Reece (Indianapolis, Ind. / Roncalli) led the Thunder with eight shots in her debut, while Carly Osinski (Noblesville, Ind. / Noblesville, Ind. / Guerin Catholic) got off six shots.

Rebecca Roell made 12 saves for the Ravens, and nine different players registered shots. The Thunder was able to produce several quality scoring chances, but Roell was equal to the task to keep the game scoreless.

Trine returns to action Saturday, Sep. 3 at home against Illinois Tech. The match kicks off at 4 p.m.
