Thunder Suffer First Loss of Season to Britons

ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine women's soccer team suffered their first defeat of the season to conference foe Albion College by the score of 1-0.

The match was a defensive struggle from start to finish. The Thunder's senior goalkeeper Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso/Valparaiso) made 12 saves in the match despite allowing the lone goal. That goal came in opening minute of the second half when senior Jenna Urso of Albion broke through the Trine defense and put a shot into the left side of the goal just outside of Veljovic's reach.

On the other end of the pitch Albion's defense stymied Trine, allowing only four shots on goal during the match. Sophomore Marisa Robinett (Auburn/DeKalb) delivered perhaps the best chance for Trine when, following a foul against Albion, she put a shot just over goal. Robinett would finish the match with a team leading three shots on goal.

With the loss the Thunder fall to 0-1 in conference play and 4-1 on the season.

Trine will look to bounce back on Monday, Sept. 11, at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Adrian College for their second conference match of the season.
