Thunder Fall to Hornets

KALAMAZOO, MICH. – The Trine women's soccer team was defeated by Kalamazoo College this evening by the score of 2-0.

The Thunder began the game with a strong defensive effort holding the Hornets off the board for the first 40 minutes of the game. Senior goalkeeper Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso/Valparaiso) was called upon to make four saves during that time.

The shutout came to an end in the 41st minute however when Kalamazoo's Libby Munoz was able to break through the Trine defense and rack up two goals inside of that minute to give them a 2-0 lead.

The Thunder would bring the defense back to bear holding the Hornets off the board for the rest of the match. The effort would not be enough as Kalamazoo's defense would itself batten down and keep Trine off the board, giving them the 2-0 win.

One of the Thunder's best chances was once again provided by sophomore Marisa Robinett (Auburn/DeKalb) when she took a free kick outside of the box and put it on goal forcing a save.

Trine will next take the pitch when they face off with Calvin College on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7:00 p.m.
