Hope Slips Past Trine in Season Finale

Hope Slips Past Trine in Season Finale

HOLLAND MICH. – The Trine women's soccer team finished their season this evening with a loss to nationally-ranked Hope College by the score of 1-0.

The Thunder struggled to break through the Dutch defense throughout the game. Senior Gigi Jarratt (Valparaiso/Valparaiso) tallied Trine's only shot on goal in the match, representing the team's best chance for a goal.

Despite their offensive difficulties the Thunder still put on a valiant effort in the match with their strong defensive effort. The Thunder join only three other teams to have been able to hold the prolific Dutch offense, which averages over three goals a game, to one goal or less this season.

A big part of the defensive effort in the match was, once again, senior goalkeeper Kristina Veljovic (Valparaiso/Valparaiso) who was once again spectacular in goal finishing the game with 14 saves.

With the loss, Trine finishes the season with a 2-14 record in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.  Overall the Thunder finished with a 6-14 record, the six wins are the most compiled by a Trine women's soccer team in their NCAA DIII history
