TERRA HAUTE, Ind. -- The Trine University women's soccer team came up just short against undefeated Rose-Hulman, losing the match by the score of 1-0.
The two teams traded shots during the first half of the contest with the Thunder having two chances at goals during the period. The first came in the 27th minute of the contest when junior Marisa Robinett (Auburn / DeKalb) took a shot from the corner that forced a save from the Fightin' Engineers' goaltender.
The other came in the 36th minute when junior Morgan Sanderson (Leo / Leo) received a pass inside the box and put a header shot on goal forcing another save from the goalie.
The two teams entered the locker rooms scoreless at halftime.
Ten minutes into the second period Robinett had another shot at a goal once again placing a shot on goal.
The Fightin' Engineers finally broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute of the contest giving them the 1-0 lead. It would be enough as they would hold on to win the match.
Despite giving up the lone goal, freshman Jillian Rejczyk (Wauconda, Ill. / Wauconda) played well in net. She finished the game with four saves.
Following the loss, the Thunder fall to 1-2 on the season. Trine will continue their season by traveling to face Manchester on Monday, Sept. 10. The match is set to start at 4 p.m.
