Women's Soccer Drops Match to Anderson

ANGOLA, Ind. -- In a warm and humid match, the Trine University women's soccer team was outlasted by visiting Anderson University by the score of 2-0.

The Ravens scored their first goal in the 12th minute of the contest when they pressured the Thunder defense inside their own box. The turnover by Trine gave Anderson an open look and the capitalized putting it over the keeper's head. The goal gave Anderson the 1-0 lead which would be enough for the victory. The Ravens added their second goal in the 37th minute of the game to get the final score of 2-0.

In the second half, the Thunder were hindered by the weather and a shorter bench. Unable to sub in fresh legs as often as the opposition they did well to keep the Ravens from adding to their lead.

The Thunder's best scoring chance came when sophomore Courtney Reece (Indianapolis / Roncalli) took a scorching shot from the top of the box, forcing the Anderson keeper to stretch out for the save.

Following the loss, Trine falls to 3-5 overall. They will look to bounce back on Sunday, Sept. 23 when they play host to Mount St. Joseph for a 12 p.m. contest.
