Thunder Blanked by Hornets

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Trine University women's soccer team was shutout by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) opponent Kalamazoo College, 2-0.

The Hornets scored the first of their two goals in just the 11th minute of the contest to take the early 1-0 lead. They would hold it through halftime before adding another goal, again just 11 minutes into the second half, to finish off the contest with the 2-0 victory.

Trine had two opportunities throughout the match to notch goals of their own. The first chance came 14 minutes after the first Kalamazoo goal when junior Kristen Reece (Indianapolis / Roncalli) worked her way behind the Kalamazoo defense and put a shot on goal. The opposition's keeper came up with the save.

Late in the contest trailing 2-0, junior Marisa Robinett (Auburn / DeKalb) placed a shot on goal from outside the box forcing another save from the Hornet goalkeeper.

The Thunder fall to 3-8-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the MIAA following the loss. They will take the pitch again when they host Olivet College in Zollner Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 6.
