ANGOLA, Ind. -- A pair of first-half goals was enough for the win as the Trine University women's soccer team shutout visiting Olivet College 2-0, in the opening Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest for the season.

The team wasted little time lighting up the scoreboard, coming up with their first goal of the day in just the ninth minute of the contest. Freshman Taylor Noll (Anna, Ohio / Anna) scored the goal her seventh goal of the season, moving her into a tie atop the team statistics in that category.

The Thunder would double their lead in the 21st minute of the same half. This time the goal came off of a free kick opportunity awarded to the team in the offensive zone. Sophomore Andrea Wright (Plainfield, Ind. / Plainfield) came up with the goal with an assist credited to classmate Veronica Ocampo (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial).

Trine then played lockdown defense through the rest of the contest allowing just three shots on goal through the entire contest, keeping the pressure off of junior keeper Jessalyn Friederick (Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard) who finished the win with three saves.

The Thunder improve to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in MIAA play following the victory. They will continue the season with another MIAA contest on Monday, March 29 when they host Hope College in Zollner Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
