Women's Soccer Bows Out of MIAA Tournament

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Trine University women's soccer team dropped their opening contest of the 2020-21 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) tournament, falling to Kalamazoo College 4-0.

The Hornets scored their first goal of the contest in the 25th minute of play, off of a free-kick awarded in the offensive end off of a Thunder foul.

Overall Trine turned in a strong performance in the first half holding Kalamazoo to the lone goal. Sophomore Carmen Sweigard (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon), who left the game after the first half, allowed just the lone goal while making five saves.

The second half saw the Hornets pull away from the Thunder scoring three goals, two in the first six minutes of the half, to take the match 4-0.

The team finish the season 8-6 overall and 1-4 in MIAA play.
