Trine Tops Medaille 4-0

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Trine University women's soccer team defeated Medaille College on Saturday 4-0 in a match played at Buffalo State University.

The Thunder remain unbeaten on the year with a 4-0-1 record. Trine sent the Mavericks to 1-2 in the 2021 season.

The Thunder were peppering the net all game long that resulted in a 27-1 shot differential. Teresa Ashbrook [Dewitt, Mich. / Dewitt] notched her seventh goal of the year in the 22nd minute to give Trine the 1-0 advantage. Assisting on the play was New Yorker Olivia Argentieri [East Amherst, N.Y. / Clarence].

A few moments later, Argentieri found the back of the net herself with Grace Meara [St. Louis, Mo. / Lindbergh] finding her on the pass.

Paige Skaff [Plymouth, Mich. / Salem] chipped in for the third goal of the half for the Thunder, with Meara assisting yet again, her first multi-assist game of her career. The freshman Skaff recorded her first-ever goal on the play.

Just three minutes into the second half, Mia Augustino [Niagara Falls, N.Y. / Niagara Falls] was able to score in her home state to make it 4-0. Bella Mabry [Oregon, Ohio / Clay] found her with the pass.

The defensive line as well as keepers Jessalyn Friederick [Indianapolis, Ind. / Bishop Chatard] and Sophie Aschemeier [Findlay, Ohio / Liberty-Benton] were able to combine for the clean sheet in the match.

Trine continues their event at Buffalo State tomorrow as the Thunder take on Penn State-Behrend at 11 am.
