GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Trine University women's soccer team picked up their sixth win of the season with a hard fought victory against Denison University by the score of 3-2.

The Thunder struck first in the contest when in the 14th minute freshman Teresa Ashbrook (Dewitt, Mich. / Dewitt) made it a seventh straight match scoring a goal. She came up with the tally taking a shot from the left side across the goal into the right side of the net.

The 1-0 lead would last until nearly the end of the first half when the Big Red tied the game with their first goal of the contest. The two teams would enter the intermission tied 1-1.

In the second period, Trine would once again strike first when in the 69th minute Ashbrook came up with another goal with a low shot into the bottom left side of the net.

Ashbrook would complete her second hat-trick of the season with a third goal in the 80th minute of the contest. The goal, her 11th of the season, came from just outside the box and gave the team a 3-1 lead.

Denison pulled back within one in the 87th minute of the contest, but the Thunder held firm defensively and came away with the 3-2 victory.

Junior Carmen Sweigard (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon) had a busy night in goal where she finished with 11 saves, despite allowing the two goals. All told Denison outshot Trine 24-5 and 13-3 on goal.

The Thunder improve to 6-0-1 following the victory. They will take their home pitch for just the second time this season when they host Augustana (Ill.) College on Saturday, Sept. 18 for a 1 p.m. match.
