HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Sophomore Teresa Ashbrook of the Trine University women's soccer team has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the week after her performance in a crucial victory over visiting Wittenberg University.
This is the first time this season that a Thunder student-athlete has taken home the honor. It is the second time in Ashbrook's career that she has been named athlete of the week.
Trine went 1-1 during the week. The started off with a loss to Division I opponent Indiana University before returning home to host Wittenberg University. Ashbrook played spectacularly in the 2-0 victory. She scored the team's first goal by herself before adding an assist to the second.
The team currently sits at 4-2 overall and will continue their season when they travel to face Ohio Wesleyan University tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
