Ashbrook, Aschemeier Named United Soccer Coaches All-Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches have announced the 2022 edition of their NCAA Division III All-Region awards and the Trine University women's soccer team placed a pair of student-athletes on the list.

Sophomore Teresa Ashbrook made her second straight appearance as a first team honoree, also only the second time in the program's NCAA history. Sophomore Sophie Aschemeier makes her debut on the third team, becoming the third player to receive such honors.

Ashbrook turned in another record-breaking year for the team as a forward. In back-to-back matches she broke the program's NCAA Division III career goals and points records. For the season she finished with 20 points including eight goals and four assists. She led the team in goals and points while finishing second in assists. Earlier this month she was named All-MIAA first team by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).

Aschemeier had another outstanding season in net for the Thunder, including a broken record of her own. She recorded eight shutouts for the team, the new single-season mark in the program's NCAA history. She finished with a 0.92 goals-against average, 85 saves and a .833 save percentage. She also earned first team honors from the MIAA, elevating from her second team performance last season.

Trine finished their season 11-5-3 overall, the second-highest win total since joining NCAA Division III and tied for seventh all-time. The team finished MIAA competition 5-1-2 and second in the standings, the best finish in program history. The made their second straight appearance in the MIAA Tournament Championship, finishing runner-up again.
