ANGOLA, Ind. – Six different student-athletes scored as the Trine University women's soccer team handled visiting Franklin College in lopsided fashion with a 6-0 victory.

"Six different goal scorers today kind of sums it all up," said head coach Gary Boughton, "We've been looking for goals and many of the girls stepped up!"

The Thunder dominated the contest from start to finish, outshooting the Grizzlies 18-6 overall and 13-2 on goal. Eleven different members of the team put shots on goal on the way to the six different student-athletes scoring goals.

The first goal of the day came in the ninth minute when Trine drew a foul inside of the penalty area. Sophomore Andi Lipic took the attempt and buried the ball into the right side of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The score held for the next 20 minutes of game time before the Thunder scored a pair of goals in five minutes before the end of the half. The first was scored by freshman Samantha Sanderlin with senior Megan Davis adding an assist. Davis went on to score the second in the stretch with freshman Reganne Koskela adding the assist.

The Thunder quickly added two more goals in the opening minutes of the second half. The first came when senior Olivia Argentieri placed a perfect pass into the penalty area where sophomore Abby Robison was waiting to finish off with the goal.

Junior Bella Mabry indirectly set up the next goal after she forced a diving save from the oppositions keeper and earned a corner kick for the Thunder. After the first attempt earned a second, Lipic placed a ball into the goal box where sophomore Delilah Taylor finished up with a header.

The final goal of the game came off another corner kick this time taken by sophomore Lindsey Meyer. Koskela scored off the attempt making the score 6-0 for the final.

Sophomore Madison Kinneer played the game in net for Trine and played well in the first start of her career. She made a pair of saves and helped set up the offense from the defensive zone throughout the contest.

"I feel that the momentum we built in the second half of Sunday's match into today," continued Boughton, "I think this can be the start of us righting the ship. We just need to continue to work hard and raise our standards every time we take the field."

The Thunder improve to 2-1-3 following the victory. They will continue their when they travel to face Wittenberg University on Saturday, September 16. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
