Stefankiewicz joined Trine in 2009 has been coaching men’s and women’s soccer for more than 30 years, including the University of St. Francis and Indiana-Purdue of Fort Wayne (IPFW).

While at Trine, Stefankiewicz has coached seven players to all-conference honors. The Thunder have boasted All-MIAA midfielders each of the last three years.

In 2017 senior, Stefankiewcz coached senior goalkeeper Kristina Veljovic to another great season to end her career. She became the first Trine player to earn Frist-Team All-MIAA honors and NSCAA Regional status.

Stefankiewicz recently led the Thunder to its highest MIAA win-total during the 2016 season. The team got more than 80 percent of its scoring from underclassmen and graduated just three seniors from a young roster. Freshman Morgan Sanderson tied a program-record for most goals in a season since Trine joined the MIAA in 2004. Goalkeeper Kristina Veljovic became the school's all-time leader in shutouts during that time frame.

The Gary, Ind. native played at Indiana University for legendary coach Jerry Yeagley. He is a 2004 inductee into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame. His 1999 IPFW men’s team was ranked No. 8 in the NCAA Division II poll. That same season he was nominated for the National Soccer Coaches Association’s Division II coach of the year.

He led both IPFW and USF to NAIA and NCAA playoffs and is determined to make the Thunder a post-season contender.

He is the founder of the successful National Soccer Festival, a pre-season men’s and women’s soccer event that brings top collegiate programs to Fort Wayne every August and April. It is considered the pre-eminent Division I soccer pre-season event in the country. Now in its 13th year, thousands of soccer fans attend the showcase. The event consistently attracts top 25 teams, and several national champion men’s and women’s teams have played at the NSF.

Stefankiewicz is also very involved in the Fort Wayne community. He is founder and former president of the Pepsi Youth Soccer Organization, and is the driving force behind the annual pre-season National Soccer Festival (previously IPFW Showcase).

Stefankiewicz graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 1972 and earned a master's degree in physical education from the University of Saint Francis.
