Women's Tennis Wins Final Fall Match

GOSHEN, Ind. - In their final dual match of the fall season, the Trine University women's tennis teams defeated Goshen College 6-3 The Thunder finish the fall season with a 3-2 record.

The women's team swept the doubles matches in convincing fashion. In the No. 1 spot, senior Jessica Huhnke (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) and freshman Bailey Denton (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) took the match 8-2. At second doubles, seniors Chrissy Uphaus (Richmond, Ind./Centreville) and Lauren Schlueter (Akron, Ohio/Revere) won 8-3 while junior Erin Kwaske (Jackson, Mich./Western) and sophomore Lexi Mack (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) took the third position 8-4.

In singles action, Denton earned a point in the No. 3 match winning 6-1, 6-1. Schlueter took the No. 4 match 6-2, 6-1 while Mack needed a third set to win the fifth position 3-6, 6-4, 10-3. Ali Marley (New Carlisle, Ind./New Prairie) fell in a tough 3-set match at the sixth position 3-6, 6-4, 11-9.

The women's team will now compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championship hosted by DePauw University beginning on Sept. 20.
