ORLANDO, FLA.-- The Trine women's tennis team was defeated by NCAA Division-II foe Cedarville, 9-0, Wednesday morning at Lake Cane.
Marissa German (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) provided a stiff test for counterpart Maryssa Herbert in the no. 5 singles court. After dropping the first set 6-4, the Thunder freshman rallied to take the second set 6-3 and force the tiebreak. Herbert took the tiebreak 10-5 to earn the point for Cedarville. The effort by German provided the toughtest test to a very solid Yellow Jackets squad. The loss drops Trine to 4-3 on the season. Cedarville is now 7-2 overall.
Results from Trine's match against Evangel University were not available at the time of writing. The Thunder return to action tomorrow morning when they take on Coe at 11:00 a.m.
