Women's Tennis Falls To St. Mary's

ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's women's tennis team was defeated by St. Mary's 8-1 in MIAA-action Saturday afternoon in Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.

Jessica Huhnke (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) picked up the lone point for the Thunder in no. 1 singles. The senior won convincingly 6-1, 6-0. Huhnke has won three-consecutive singles matches and is 2-0 in MIAA singles matches. Erin Kwaske (Jackson, Mich./Western) took the first set from Kayla Sexton at no. 2 singles, but Sexton was able to rally to win in the tiebreaker. Trine falls to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in conference matches. St. Mary's improved to 5-3 overall, 1-0 in the MIAA.

Jackie Kjolhede, Shannon Elliott, Andrea Fetters and Audrey Kiefer picked up singles victories for SMC. The Belles swept doubles play.

Trine returns to action Saturday, Apr. 5 when they travel to Bethel (Ind.) for a non-conference match at 11:00 a.m.
