Women's Tennis Sweeps Olivet on Senior Night

ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine women's tennis team swept Olivet with a 9-0 victory in a MIAA-match held Monday afternoon at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.

The Thunder rolled through doubles play. Erin Kwaske (Jackson, Mich./Western) and Lexi Mack (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) picked up a shutout 8-0 victory in the no. 2 court. Jessica Huhnke (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) and Lauren Schlueter (Akron, Ohio/Revere) combined for the 8-1 victory at no. 1, while Marissa German (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) and Kaitlin Black (Crawfordsville, Ind./Southmont) recorded the 8-2 victory at no. 3.

Huhnke, Kwaske, Schlueter, German and Allison Marley (New Carlisle, Ind./New Prairie) each won in straight sets in singles play. Huhnke picked up her victory in dominating 6-0, 6-0 fashion. Mack had to go to the tiebreak, but prevailed 10-5 in the deciding set to earn the victory.

The Thunder honored seniors Huhnke and Schlueter prior to the match. Both ladies are putting the caps on solid careers at Trine. Huhnke is 37-13 in singles matches in her Thunder career and holds a 6-4 record this season. Schlueter is 31-38 in singles play at Trine, and has posted an 8-6 record in singles matches this season.

Trine returns to action this Wednesday, Apr. 9 when they travel to Adrian. First serve is slated for 4:00 p.m.
