Thunder Pick Up Conference Win at Alma

ALMA, Mich.-- The Trine women's tennis team captured an MIAA-victory over Alma, 5-4 Saturday afternoon at the Superior Street Tennis Complex.

The Thunder took two doubles points to get things started. Tarah Brennan (Allegan, Mich./Allegan) and Marissa German (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) combined on the win in the no. 2 flight, as the duo earned an 8-4 victory. Brennan and German are now 4-2 as a pairing this season. Freshmen Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind./Edwardsburg) and Kinnsey Pass (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) picked up a tough, 8-6 victory at no. 3 doubles. Hatkevich and Pass are now 5-2 playing together this season.

German and Hatkevich also saw success in singles play. German won by scores of 6-1, 6-2 to pick up her seventh victory of the season. Hatkevich won her third-straight match, picking up 6-2, 6-0 wins. Chelsea Ort (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) added the victory at no. 6 by a 6-3, 6-2 final. Ort is now 4-2 on the year.

Trine improved to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the MIAA. Alma fell to 6-9 overall, 2-6 in conference play.

The Thunder will play an MIAA-match at Olivet tomorrow. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
