Thunder Set Team Record in Win Over Albion

ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine women's tennis team set a new team-best mark for MIAA wins as the Thunder defeated Albion, 7-2 Wednesday afternoon.

Every Trine player was part of a victory in either singles or doubles play. Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind./Edwardsburg) and Lexi Mack (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) each earned victories in both singles and doubles matches. Mack earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the no. 2 singles flight and teamed with Erin Kwaske (Jackson, Mich./Western) on an 8-0 victory at no. 1 doubles. Hatkevich won her fifth-straight singles match and won at no. 3 doubles with Kinnsey Pass (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson).

The win improved Trine's record to 9-5 overall, 4-2 in MIAA matches. The four conference wins are a team-best since the Thunder joined the league prior to the 2004-05 season. Trine is tied with Calvin for fourth in the MIAA.

Marissa German (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth), Tarah Brennan (Allegan, Mich./Allegan) and Chelsea Ort (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) each picked up victories in singles play as well for Trine. German and Ort each extended their winning-streaks in singles matches to three, with Ort winning by a pair of 6-0 scores. Brennan picked up her second win in conference play.

The loss dropped Albion to 3-9 overall, 1-6 in conference matches.

Trine will host Hope this Wednesday, April 22 at 4 p.m.
