WINONA LAKE, Ind.-- The Trine women's tennis team was defeated by Grace, 8-1 in a non-conference match Monday afternoon.
Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind./Edwardsburg) picked up a singles victory for the Thunder in the no. 2 flight. The sophomore eked out a 7-6 winner in the first set, before putting her opponent away 6-2 in the second set to earn the victory. Hatkevich improved her record to 2-1 on the season. Trine fell to 1-2 overall. Grace improved to 4-5 on the season.
Lexi Mack (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) put up a tough fight in the first set at no. 1 singles, but was defeated 7-5. Natalia Kurkova was able to pick up the victory over Mack in the second set.
Trine will close out the fall season with a home match against Lawrence Tech this Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 3:30 p.m.
