Thunder Sweep Fighting Muskies

NEW CONCORD, Ohio-- The Trine women's tennis team swept Muskingum 9-0 in a non-conference match Sunday afternoon.

Sloan Davis (Olivet , Mich. / Olivet) and Kinnsey Pass (Lafayette, Ind. / Jefferson) combined to shut out their opponents at No. 3 doubles. Davis and Pass improved to 2-1 as a pairing with the 8-0 win. Davis followed up on the doubles performance with her first collegiate singles victory. Davis won in straight sets in the No. 5 flight.

Pass also earned a singles victory in the No. 3 flight by scores of 6-0, 6-1. The sophomore improved her team-best singles record to 6-3 on the season. Five of those victories have come in the No. 3 court.

Lexi Mack (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) and Kaitlin Black (Crawfordsville, Ind. / Southmont) continued the doubles success with an 8-1 victory in the No. 2 court. Each player also earned wins by 6-0, 6-1 scores in singles play. Black's singles victory was her fourth in her last five matches.

Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind. / Edwardsburg) and Tarah Brennan (Allegan, Mich. / Allegan) combined for the 8-4 win as Trine's top doubles pairing. The duo has won two of their last three matches together.

Hatkevich won the first set of her singles match 6-1, before fending off a tough challenge from her opponent to win the second 7-5. Carlee Richardson (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland) added a victory in straight sets in the No. 6 court. Richardson is showing promise after joining this spring with a 2-2 record.

Trine improved to 3-6 with the victory. Muskingum fell to 0-7.

The Thunder open MIAA play Tuesday, Apr. 6 at Adrian. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
