Thunder Women Drop Hard-Fought Match to Olivet

FREMONT, Ind.-- The Trine women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match to Olivet by a 5-4 score in MIAA-action Monday evening at Fremont High School.

Kinnsey Pass (Lafayette, Ind. / Jefferson) pulled off an epic comeback to win her match at No. 3 singles. The sophomore dropped her first set and was down 5-0 in the second before she made her comeback. Pass faced match point multiple times in the second set but was able to keep her chances alive by fighting back to win the tiebreak. Pass completed the comeback with a convincing 6-0 win the final set to earn her team-leading ninth win of the season. Pass also leads the team with three conference wins and has won her last two MIAA matches.

Lexi Mack (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford) was able to get the best of another exciting, back-and-forth match. Mack split the first two sets with her opponent. The senior rallied back after dropping her second set to win the deciding set by a 6-2 decision. Mack's victory was her third in singles play this season.

Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind. / Edwardsburg) notched the final Thunder singles win on the evening. The sophomore won by scores of 6-3, 6-4 in one of just two singles matches in the dual that didn't go three sets. Hatkevich's win was her sixth of the season and second in conference play.
