ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine women's tennis team was defeated by Wittenberg, 8-1 in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon in Keith E. Busse / Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.
Trine's top doubles pairing of Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind. / Edwardsburg) and Tarah Brennan (Allegan, Mich. / Allegan) accounted for the team's victory. The duo combined on an 8-2 win. Hatkevich and Brennan evened their record on the season at 1-1 and were victorious for the third time as a pairing.
Hannah Cowen (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich. / Olivet) also gave the Thunder a competitive match in the No. 3 doubles flight. Cowen and Davis pushed their opponents to a tiebreaker, but were unable to pull out the victory as they fell by a 9-8 final.
Trine will host Earlham Sunday, Sep. 11 in a non-conference match at 10 a.m. at Ryan Tennis Center.
