DEFIANCE, OHIO – The Trine women's tennis team defeated Defiance College 6-3.
The Thunder came out of the gate strong, winning two of the three doubles matches. Sophomore Kyra Braun (Portland/Jay County) and freshman Katie Simon (Paw Paw/Paw Paw) defeated their opponents in the No. 3 match, by the score of 8-1 to remain undefeated on the season. Meanwhile, senior Kinnsey Pass (Lafayette/Jefferson) and freshman Andrea Jordan (New Haven/New Haven) added a second victory to their season record with an 8-2 victory in the No. 2 match.
Braun and Simon would continue their success in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches with convincing wins, both with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Pass was able to pull off a two set victory with the help of a long tiebreaker winning her No. 2 match 6-2, 7-6 (9-7). The Thunder's final win came from the No. 4 match where junior Theresa Magenheimer (Indianapolis/Hamilton Heights) defeated her opponent 7-5, 6-2.
Trine will look to win again on Sunday, Sept. 24, when they face off with Indiana Tech at 11:00 a.m. on their home courts.
