Braun Named MIAA Tennis Athlete of the Week

FREELAND, MICH. –  Sophomore Kyra Braun (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) was tapped the women's tennis player of the week by the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) office on Monday.

Braun was asked to step up this past week moving up to play No. 4 singles instead of her normal No. 5 position due to injury. Braun did not miss a beat going 3-1 during the team's spring break trip and barely missing out on a perfect recording losing her final match of the week in the super tiebreaker.

In doubles, Braun paired with freshman Katie Simon (Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw) in the No. 3 match. The pair went undefeated during the trip including the team's lone point in their contest against Judson (Ill.) University.

Braun's victories were crucial to the teams 3-1 record on the trip. The Thunder defeated both Covenant College and SUNY Oneonta by the score of 5-4, with Braun accounting for two points in each of those matches.

Trine will next take the courts on Sunday, March 18, when they face off will Ohio Northern University starting at 2 p.m.
