Women's Tennis Take Match Against Albion

ALBION, MICH. – The Trine University women's tennis team picked up another Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) win by defeating Albion College with the score of 7-2.

The Thunder came out strong taking two of the double matches for the early 2-1 lead. The No. 1 doubles the team of senior Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind. / Edwardsburg) and freshman Zoe Laubach (Niles, Mich. / Edwardsburg) came away with an 8-3 win. In the No. 3 match sophomore Kyra Braun (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) and freshman Katie Simon (Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw) took the match 8-3.

Trine kept their foot on the gas in the singles portion of the contest taking five more matches. Both junior Theresa Magenheimer (Indianapolis, Ind. / Hamilton Heights) in the No. 4 match and Simon in the No. 6 match came away with wins with scores of 6-1, 6-1. Braun took the No. 5 match with scores of 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 3 match senior Kinnsey Pass (Lafayette, Ind. / Jerfferson) came away with the victory 6-1, 6-2. In the most highly contested match of the contest, No. 1 player Hatkevich came away with the victory with scores of 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

The Thunder improve to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA with the victory. They will look to add another victory on Wednesday, April 11 when they host Kalamazoo College for a 4 p.m. contest.
