FREELAND, Mich. -- Freshman Ashley Spirrison (Fishers / Hamilton Southeastern) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's tennis Athlete of the Week.
Ashley started the week by participating in the ITA Women's Central Regional Championship both as an individual and a member of a doubles team. She made it to the second round in both competitions.
In her other action of the week, Spirrison lost in hard-fought matches against a tough Grace (Ind.) College team.
"Ashley has made an immediate impact on Thunder tennis," said head coach Erin Kolar, "Her work ethic and ability give us a chance to win at the top spot in both singles and doubles. She is already a natural leader for our team despite only being a freshman."
The dual match against Grace completed the team's fall slate of competition. They will next take the courts when they compete during their spring break trip starting on Monday, March 4.
