Women's Tennis Takes Comeback Victory Over Coe

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Trine University women's tennis team took four singles matches to come away with the 5-4 victory over Coe College.

Trine found themselves trailing 2-1 following the doubles portion of the contest. That victory came in the No. 3 match from junior Kyra Braun (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) and sophomore Katie Simon (Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw) by the score of 8-6.

The Thunder stormed back in the singles portion of the contest, taking four matches to come away with the victory 5-4. Simon finished off an undefeated day taking the No. 6 match with scores of 6-3, 6-3. Freshman Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Southeastern) took the No. 1 match with scores of 6-2, 7-5. 

Both Delaney Keirn (Claypool, Ind. / Whitko) and freshman Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) both competed up a level from their norm in the match and both came up with crucial wins. Lozier took the No. 5 match with scores of 6-1, 6-4 and Keirn took the No. 4 match with scores of 7-5, 6-0.

The Thunder improve to 5-2 following the victory. They will take on Otterbein University tomorrow, March 6 at 8 a.m. to continue their spring break slate of games.
