KOKOMO, Ind. -- The Trine University women's tennis team traveled to face Indiana University Kokomo today in their second dual match of the season. The team once again came up short falling by the score of 6-1.
Once again the teams played under NAIA rules where the doubles portion of the contest would count for just one point. The Thunder surrendered that point despite their No. 1 team of sophomores Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) picking up the decisive 6-0 win in their match.
Spirrison would go on in singles to pick up Trine's lone point of the contest. She took the No. 1 singles match with scores of 6-1, 6-1.
The Thunder fall to 0-2 following the loss. They will take the courts again when they travel to face Spring Arbor University on Saturday, Sept. 14. The match is set to start at 11 a.m.
