Women's Tennis Drops Close Matches in Loss to Spring Arbor

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- The Trine University women's tennis team dropped their dual match against Spring Arbor University by the score of 6-1.

Once again sophomore Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) headlined the day for the Thunder coming away with the lone point of the match with a win in the No. 1 singles competition with scores of 6-3, 6-4. She also picked up a win in the No. 1 doubles match with partner sophomore Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) with a score of 6-2.

Despite not showing up in the win column multiple members of the team fought hard in their matches. In the No. 4 singles match sophomore Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) took the first set before dropping the second and third with match scores of 6-3, 4-6, 2-6. 

Following her doubles victory, Cole struggled in the first set of the No. 5 match before winning the second and barely missing out on a tiebreaker in the third falling with scores of 1-6, 6-4, 5-7.

Trine falls to 0-3 following the loss. They will travel to face Anderson (Ind.) University tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 15. The dual match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
