Women's Tennis Finishes Florida Trip Strong

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Trine University women's tennis team finished off their spring break trip with a convincing 8-1 victory over Concordia College Moorhead.

The Thunder started by taking two of the doubles matches in the contest. The team of sophomores Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) won the No. 1 match 8-2. In the No. 3 match Trista Savage (Bryan, Ohio / Bryan) and junior Katie Simon (Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw) won 8-1.

Trine then swept the singles portion of the day to win 8-1. Spirrison took the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-2. In the No. 2 match Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) won 6-4, 7-5 and in the No. 3 match Eva Morales (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) won 6-1, 3-6, 10-8. Senior Kyra Braun (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) won the No. 4 match 6-3, 6-2 and Cole won 6-1, 6-1. Savage rounded out the victory with a 7-5, 6-0 win in the No. 6 match.

The Thunder improve to 3-6 following the win. They will take the courts again on Saturday, March 21 when they host Franklin College for a noon contest.
