Women's Tennis Streaks Away from Comets

MARSHALL, Mich. -- The Trine University women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Olivet College.

The most lopsided victory for the Thunder during the doubles portion of the contest came from the No. 2 pair of seniors Andrea Jordan (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) and Trista Savage (Bryan, Ohio / Bryan) who defeated the opposition 8-0. The other two Trine pairings both came up with 8-2 victories, with juniors Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) competing in the No. 1 match and the team of junior Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) and freshman Jadyn Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) going in the No. 3 match.

Both Davis and Savage would go undefeated in the contest behind 6-0, 6-0 wins in their singles matches, No.2 and No. 5 respectively. Spirrison took the No. 1 match 6-0, 6-3, Cole took the No. 4 match 6-0, 6-4 and Lozier finished the No. 6 match with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Sophomore Eva Morales (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) won the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-0.

The Thunder improve to 3-0 following the win. They will travel to face Manchester University for their next contest. The 4:00 p.m. dual is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
