Women's Tennis Wins Tight Match with Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Trine University women's tennis team needed every point they could get as they came up with a 5-4 win over Anderson (Ind.) University.

The Thunder opened the day with a pair of wins in the doubles portion of the contest. Juniors Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) came away with the No. 1 match by the score of 8-5. Meanwhile, seniors Trista Savage (Bryan, Ohio / Bryan) and Andrea Jordan (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) took the No. 3 match 8-6.

Trine then took three more points in the singles matches to come up with the 5-4 victory. Spirrison swept her opponent in No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0. Cole also went undefeated on the day with a 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 win in the No. 4 singles match. Junior Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) tallied the final win for the Thunder with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 6 singles match.

The team improves to 9-1 following the win. They will enter Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) when they travel to face Kalamazoo College on Sunday, March 28. The Match is set to start at 1 p.m.
