Women's Tennis Sweeps Visiting Olivet

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University women's tennis team swept past visiting Olivet College 9-0 in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) dual match.

The Thunder started with two lopsided and one close doubles match victories. The No. 3 team of seniors Andrea Jordan (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) and Trista Savage (Bryan, Ohio / Bryan) shutout their opponents 8-0, while the No. 2 team of freshman Jadyn Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and junior Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) came up with the 8-1 win. The No. 1 team of juniors Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) had the closest of the match wins with an 8-5 victory.

Three Trine student-athletes swept their matches in the singles portion of the contest including sophomore Eva Morales (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) in the No. 3 match, Savage in the No. 5 match and Lozier in the No. 6 match. Cole dropped just one set to her opponent in the No. 4 match taking a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Davis took the No. 2 match 6-2, 6-1 and Spirrison came up with the closest win of the day in the No. 1 match 3-6, 6-2, 10-3.

The team improves to 14-4 overall and 5-2 in MIAA play following the victory. They will finish their regular season when they travel to face Calvin University on Saturday, May 1. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
