Spirrison Named First-Team All-MIAA

FREELAND, Mich. -- For the second time in her career, junior Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) will represent the Trine University women's tennis team on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's (MIAA) All-MIAA first team.

Spirrison became just the second student-athlete in program history to earn first-team honors from the MIAA following the 2019 season. Following this repeat, she becomes just the second athlete to make multiple appearances on any All-MIAA team for the Thunder.

Spirrison completed another spectacular regular season for Trine finishing with just four total losses while competing in the No. 1 matches for both singles and doubles. She finished with a 17-1 record in singles matches and joined partner and classmate Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) to finish with a 15-3 record in doubles matches, both team-high win totals.

In just two full seasons played Spirrison has become the Thunder's top tennis player in the program's NCAA history with 43 singles victories. She currently is just seven doubles wins away from becoming the leader in that category as well.

The Thunder finished the season 15-4 overall and 6-2 in MIAA play. They will enter the MIAA Women's Tennis Tournament as the third seed, the highest finish in program history. They open the tournament by traveling to face Kalamazoo College on Wednesday, May 5.
