Women's Tennis Match Unable to Finish Due to Weather

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Trine University women's tennis team was unable to complete their match with Covenant College due to rain, cutting out the team's chance at a comeback victory.

The match began with singles and the Thunder picked up one outright win before the dual was called. Senior Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) won the No. 1 match in straight points 6-0, 6-0. Classmate Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) was the lone singles match not completed in the No. 4 spot. She held a lead at the time the match was called.

Two members of the team lost tight contests. Sophomore Jadyn Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) was defeated in a super tiebreaker during the No. 2 match with scores of 6-4, 3-6, 4-10 and the same was the case for freshman Kennedy Outwater (Bronson, Mich. / Bronson) in the No. 5 match with scores of 6-4, 1-6, 4-10.

The Thunder will take the courts again tomorrow, Thursday, March 10 when they face off with Judson (Ill.) University on the final day of the team's spring break trip.
